Baltimore’s Mindset are geared up to put the final nail in the coffin of what has been an almighty foray into the hardcore scene. Signing off with a three track EP and a series of farewell dates throughout this Winter/Spring, Mindset are sure to be going out in a blaze of glory.

As the ruthless opening riff of title track ‘Nothing Less’ clatters in, it’s impossible to deny this band’s dynamic energy. Vocalist Ev Wivell’s parting words “we’re excited to share these last songs and go out on a high note.” Ring true as Mindset fly into hardcore belter ‘We’re Right’. A powerful track, resembling an early Have Heart, albeit with a more traditional sound and a less melodic edge. ‘Effigy’ ties things off, a juggernaut of rampaging power chords and rattling bass lines, polished to a shine by Wivell’s uncompromising vocal lines.

Nothing Less leaves a raw, technical and tantalising taste. A immensely loved band with a small yet unwavering following, and a score of respectable releases, I for one am sad to see them go. Pure, captivating and unapologetic, they may not be pushing the boat out sound wise, but you can bet your life savings every song will tear the roof off live. It would be a crime to not see these hardcore champs at one of their final shows, the remaining dates are listed below; You’ve got no excuse.
