Miss May I – Monument

Miss May I has been generously sharing their talent since 2006. Their recently released album, Monument, shows another aspect of what they are capable of doing with their talent.
Ever since they started they’ve been gathering faithful fans till their publicity grew even more when they signed on with Rise Records in December 6, 2008. Soon after that event Miss May I released their incredible debut album, Apologies Are For The Weak, which as a matter of fact reached #29 on the Billboards Top Heatseekers. Their latest album in comparison to their prior is that it has a lot more variation, beginning with the introductions and also the body of the songs. This improvement makes this album all the better.

Apologies Are For The Weak is an amazing album, however, Monument has impressed more. I find that they have grown artistically unique and have defined themselves more. Considering that their previous album consisted of almost every song beginning with drum banging, guitar slamming straight into screaming to giving each song a unique feel. Monument also consists of more clean vocals. No doubt their first album had clean vocals as well, for example in ‘Forgive And Forget’, but if you compare the two albums you’ll see the change.

Monument holds a track called ‘In Recognition’, which consists of only clean vocals! This sets it even more apart to be an extraordinary album. It’s almost impossible for me to choose my favorite song since each one has it’s own flavor to it. This makes the album easy to set on repeat. The song ‘Relentless Chaos’ is an easy song to distinguish because of its already familiar sound, advocated by its outstanding music video. I hope that after reading this review, you’ll throw on your headphones and listen to this well crafted album.
