Album of the Month: Recover – Confide

Legends Arising is proud to present a brand new section on the website: ‘Album of the Month’. We’re not the type of website that reviews every record or show, but what we do want is to bring you the best music that’s around on this very moment. That’s why we introduce Album of the Month. Every month we will shed light on one of the most anticipated and best releases around, making sure you won’t miss out on good music! The Album of the Month can be the breakthrough record of upcoming youngsters, the follow up of a settled band or the long expected release of legendary metal kings. We’ll just go with whatever we think is best, so don’t hesitate to e-mail your input! The May edition is a bit late, but here it is!

Confide – Recover

It’s time to finally start talking about Confide on this blog. I’ve been following these guys for about a year now. Ever since I heard Shout The Truth, my love for this band has been growing and growing. I kept updated on their progress from the start and in the meantime Confide has released their brilliant cover/video for The Postal Service’s ‘Such Great Heighs’ and produced a video for ‘I Never Saw It Coming’. They have also toured through the United States with bands like Blessthefall and Attack Attack and toured Europe for the first time after the release of their brand new album Recover. This feature is my way to show my appreciation to these guys and help them to conquer the hearts of all the kids in Europe and beyond.

Some might say: “Is this the new Underoath?” or “Another band screaming and making noise in tight jeans? “, but in my opinion, Confide has a unique and renewing sound. This band has the potention to grow BIG. Joel’s clean vocals and Ross’ growls make a perfect match and are from time to time emphasised and nuanced by explosive guitarriffs and slick breakdowns. The album contains of refrains which pull you deeper and deeper in a fantasyworld and it’s hard to get out. The only things keeping you from being pulled further away from reality are the massive breakdowns, because they literally sweep you of your feet.

Musically, the boys didn’t make a lot of progress, but then again: that’s completely unnessesary. Their typical style makes them who they are and they shouldn’t change that, only expand it. They did that in a great way by heavier breakdowns, more clean singing parts by Joel and an overall thicker sound.

For all you folks that didn’t bought Recover yet, do it here, because in my opinion this is one of the best albums of 2010 so far. A lot of clean singing parts, catchy tracks and heavy breakdowns make this album not just an ordinary release.
