Review: The Beautiful Ones – Birth of Desire

First thing that will catch your attention about Birth of Desire is its beautiful cover shot of the fairly naked lady lying on the bed. Arizona’s The Beautiful Ones have put out their debut release Birth of Desire on 6131 Records, and this record holds a lot more than just a pretty cover.

The Beautiful Ones are a new band that are only just starting to find their way around. After putting out a demo, and playing at Sound & Fury in 2011, the ball slowly started rolling. Their infectious style of metallic hardcore will remind you of Biohazard and Cruel Hand, and they will convince you with their persevering attitude.

Birth of Desire contains five tracks, recorded, mixed and mastered by Paul Miner (Trapped Under Ice, Terror). The outcome of the recording process is surprisingly good, and any established band can be jealous of its quality. The supreme sound of the 7” is bashing out a perfect blend of bass, guitars, drums and vocals.

I urge you to get a hold of this record, as it will not disappoint. Its heaviness, rawness, and smoothness combined are an exciting mix, and a good formula for a full-length follow up. I pre-ordered Birth of Desire, will you?
